I don't know whether legalizing left-handed or split-half or frame-top rolling is a good idea or not (though I definitely do favor legalization of flat dice atop checkers). But I just want to point out that if a CLOCK is used, the fear of getting out of the way of a fast roller doesn't exist.

We've already favorably exploited the presence of the clock by reducing two sets of dice to one, so it is at least reasonable to consider modifying the dice-landing rules to encourage vigorous random rolling rather than the limp dump-rolling you sometimes see to avoid cocking or bar-hopping the dice.
