I suppose now in English language, a billion has 9 zeros, same as in American. A Dutch 'biljoen', however, has 12 zeros. A billion is a 'miljard'. And the Chinese count is multiples of 100 (ten thousand; million; hundred million; etc).

When I was working in China, I had to keep track of the zeros between different languages...
