In general, I'd agree with you and I think the fishing for cube mistakes is overdone. I'd cube this myself, because it would look like the technical correct action, and would not trust myself to correctly evaluate skill difference and how that should affect the decision.

But if I were a giant? In this position I'd roll. Technically it is a 0.015 mistake not to cube, but against a weaker opponent it will be less than that. It may even be correct not to cube against some players just because of the skill difference, and that assuming perfect cube action given the skill difference.

In any case: You are going to get perfect cube action in the match from now on if you turn the cube now; not if you wait (not in this game, and possibly not in the rest of the match), and this will shift the balance of gains and losses from not doubling.
