Staying back gets us a blot after 16 and a dead checker after 15, 14, 13. It is also possible that we collect a blot later. So it must surely be worth the small risk of rolling another nine and sending a checker too deep.

13/9 10/5 is my slight favourite because the 5-point seems as good as the 6-point and we get a slight extra flexibility with the outfield checker. Of course I wouldn't mind 13/8 10/6.
