Yes, DP is basically the same as recursion. I am planning on restricting my main presentation to ideas that I have actually used in the classroom with perhaps pointers to some other or more advanced uses. I gave an hour lecture on this at my school a few months ago and am preparing a paper based on it. Probably in a week or two. Someone remind me if I haven't posted it by then.
