Opening 64Z

One other move that I see occasionally (I saw it today, that's what reminded me of it): 64Z (24/20 13/7).
Opening 64Z
I'm intrigued by what you and others have seen. The only reference I had was from Backgammon of Today, in which author John Longacre recommends opening 64Z (reverse split):
"This is a good example of a gamble for position. It is almost an even chance that the man on the bar point will be hit. Nevertheless, if it is hit, the odds are 7-5 that a point can be established on the opponent's 5 either by the enterer or the man on the 1. This is one of the most important strategical points, and amply compensate for the delay in progress caused by the hit.
If the man on the bar is not hit, it is 5-2 that on the next shot, the man can either be covered or used to make a valuable point. As for the man on the opponent's 5, it is 6-1 that the opponent will not be able to hit him and make a point. It would be very poor play to hit the man and leave a blot."
