Rich, if I should give you a good advice based on the experience from the Danish rating system, and your current maturity level rating wise, it would be this:

Make sure to record all matches in a database, registering as much information as possible about each match. Keeping all these records, will enable you to make changes and updates as you go along.

If you record the flight level, etc. you can always calculate and publish separate lists like you discussed above. You can test/try new rating systems, and do all sorts of statistics from the matches. Long matches/short matches, local tourneys/nation-wide tourneys, and so on.

In DBgF we have been trying to fine tune the rating formula and system used, for the last year or so, and the vast database of match records have given us a perfect tool to do tests and simulations.

So if you have the data even from short matches and DMP side-events, you should record them IMHO, you can always filter them out of your formula/system, if you find them to introduce more noise than good value. BTW: in the DBgF we include shorter matches, BUT we do not weight them as high. Instead of the SQRT function used on match length in FIBS, etc. We use a linear function on match length.
