There seem to be three reasonable ways to play the five: 13/8, 11/6, and 6/1. We are behind in the race, so there seems to be no compelling reason to leave the anchor.
Then there are two aces I'll consider: 24/23 and 6/5.
13/8 strips the midpoint, but preserves the builder on the 11 point, which we will need (especially if I decide to slot the 5 point). 11/6 badly overstacks the six point and leaves an inflexible position. 6/1 sends a checker to purgatory. I think 13/8 is going to be best.
For the ace, 24/23 doesn't accomplish much... harder to escape on the 23 point, a bit more vulnerable to attack. 6/5 slots an important point that we're likely to want in a situation where White has no board. It also unstacks the six point.
13/8 6/5
