However, raise your hand everyone who thinks that even a definitive statistical proof that 'Backgammon NJ' does not cheat will cause this to be the last time we hear the tired old 'Robot xxx cheats' refrain.

No, but we also need to take into account the possibility that there is a problem somewhere in the code and not automatically assume every complaint is bogus. If we were not at least open to the possibility then all of us that play at SHG would still be playing with dice that only produce 9.2% doubles! I doubt that anyone would intentionally program in a cheat -- other than to make it easier to win -- but sometimes errors creep in that were not intended.
