OK, I'll be serious (history)

When Tim Holland's death was publicized a few months ago, it talked about a little known book (Fast Company) written by Jon Bradshaw (the same person who co-authored Backgammon, the Cruelest Game with Barclay Cooke). That book was similar to Munchkin's Gambling Wizards where each chapter tells the story of an individual "gambler". The chapter on Holland was disappointing (he was painted as a more/less burnt out BG player -- based on a single tournament in England). There was also a chapter on Bobby Riggs which detailed his (less famous) Mother's Day match against Margaret Court -- a top ranked player at the time; 50+ year old Riggs won. (The 'rematch' with Billie Jean King is the one much more remembered; she won.) THAT chapter was quite interesting, highlighting Riggs's psychological, etc. lead up to big matches. It was also about his full career, and he was a psych artist from the beginning. I recommend this chapter to any serious games player.
