A key feature here is that unlike many positions where a player needs to maintain some kind of blocking position and avoid awkward crunching numbers while not being forced off his anchor, here Side-on-roll will gladly run both or just one checker from his anchor as soon as he can and will be a heavy favorite to do that. 8/2 4/1(2) looks super -- Side-on-roll will run and come around, possibly remaking the 4 point or at least the 2 point to block, race or attack. Barring a miracle an unlikely sequence, Side-on-roll can anticipate maintaining his block for several turns, with little chance of awkwardness (thanks to the two spare and very free soon-to-be runners), while Opponent's position inevitably crashes.
