Meyer Dice Tube

In addition to a +1 on ALL of Stick's points, I have to add what I consider to be the mother of all points...
For guys, like me, who video record our own matches, the dice tube is the DEVIL! If the tube is on the same side as the tripod, you cannot view the dice, as all the little pegs obstruct the line of view to the bottom of the tube (since the tripod is usually positioned right next to the board due to limited table space in crowded playing conditions). If the tube is on the opposite side of the board as the tripod, you simply cannot see the dice... period.
I vaguely recall someone emailing me a "Video Camera Settup Diagram", where it appears that the tripod is placed further away from the board, and the dice tube is positioned between the tripod and the board, enabling a 45 degree line of sight under the pegs, through the acrylic, and into the bottom of the dice tube. While admittedly I haven't yet tried this particular settup, I suspect that it might take a bit too much space on the table, especially if the playing area is crowded.
A technique I refuse to even consider is calling out every single dice roll so the audio picks it up. While I can imagine how helpful that would be when I am entering the match in the comfort of my own home or hotel room, I could not imagine torturing my opponent (or being tortured by my opponent) with the endless drone of "21, 53, 66, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah..............." for the 500th time.
So that leaves us with reverse engineering the match entry process. Unless you have actually tried this technique of relying on the checker movements on the video to determine the "most likely" dice roll, then you can't possibly feel my pain (as if it's not already a big enough pain in the ass to enter the thing without the dice tube in use).
Thanks, Stick, for opening this can of worms.
