The time I saw it demonstrated to me the first thing that happened was the dice were cocked. It seemed there was just enough room for the dice to fit in the end of the tube with little slack. I wonder if the end of the tube should flare out like an hourglass.

I also found it non-trivial to actually see the number through the reflections on the tube. For kibitzers, it would really suck.

It also makes a somewhat unpleasant (to me) noise.
