Agreed. I find about 4-5 seconds to be fairly typical of players on a clock to produce a dice roll with normal dice rolling (assuming no cocked dice). 2 seconds or less with the dice tube.

There's no question that some players can spend 10 seconds to roll the dice, but they are clearly the exception, and it is not because of the mechanics of rolling, it is because of the habits of the players.
