Rollout Result Posted, Analysis Repeated

I am not sure whether a rollout can be posted, but I am quite certain that a rollout result can be.

I started my project of compiling several hundred third-roll positions, rolled out by Jellyfish, in 1998. I put together a notebook four or five inches thick with a few hundred pages, four diagrams on most pages, hand-drawn blue and red diagrams. If anyone ever puts together a backgammon museum, I will donate this notebook.

I remember this one: 24/18 by a lot. Nack calls this a "deflection" play. It keeps your opponent from unstacking and making his 5pt or 4pt with 31 42 51 62. You lose only 7 pips when you are hit, and you usually get at least 6 return shots. Opponent's 65 64 62 are lousy hits.

There's a subtle vig in playing 24/18. Steams up some of your opponents when they miss and you get to hear them whine and cry. They cannot believe they missed a triple shot! (How truly shocking and unjust!) I love whiners and crybabies and I love to hear them cry and whine. Sweet music to my ears.

Of course, just as slow players never realize they play slowly, superwhiners always deny that they whine.
