However, we will do our best to avoid repeat pairings, so it is possible that both you and the two loss player will be paired against a three loss player. If you both lose, you will be the only one left with fewer than three losses and the new WSBC champion.
I'm not a big fan of losing my last match and being declared champion. I feel like if there are two players left with 0 to 2 losses, they should be paired together, regardless of having played together previously.
I am generally a proponent of the swiss approach, and this format should work well. But you should not discount the magic being "being in the finals" and "if I win this match, I'll be the champ."
Next question: Under what conditions is the "avoid playing the same player twice" relaxed? I hope you have something that's not too ad hoc.
