I think Tiger does NOT want to play.

CBS televised much of Tiger's interview in the press tent after his Sunday (7 over) round. Someone asked him if he thought he should be on the Ryder Cup team. His response (paraphrased) "no, not the way I'm playing now. Someone who shoots 18 over (for four rounds this week) isn't going to help the team, but rather will be a detriment."

He has one week to redeem himself, so to speak. If he plays well at the PGA Championship AND shows the desire he's known for, then Pavin will have a real decision to make. If he mopes around the course (as he did on Sunday, from the highlights I saw) with little enthusiasm, it will be a done deal, IMO.
