Hi Bill, glad my contribution last October was of some interest to you. And best wishes for your tournament.

My only suggestion is with regard to "The players with the same record are shuffled and randomly drawn to pair. If a pairing violates one of the rules, we back up and try again."

Better, I think (as my description last October described) is that the cards not be "shuffled." Rather, at the end of every round they are returned to the same order as at the beginning of the tournament, except of course that they are first sorted by number of wins. That should minimize the need to redo pairings because (as you are making the pairings) you discover that remaining unpaired players have already played each other. The idea is to let the ordering system work for you and minimize the need to invoke secondary pairing rules to avoid pairing players who have already played each other. Shuffling seems to unnecessarily complicate the procedure.
