(I guess for this to be an advantage to you must mean that your opponents usually make illegal plays that are to your advantage. It is my experience that most illegal plays are to the advantage of the player making the illegal plays, though I haven't got any stats to support this statement.)
That's not exactly what I meant. I would probably agree with you that more often than not if an illegal move is made it was in my opponent's favor. This theory goes on the basis of the other person finding a play they like and making it whereas making an inferior or 'not good' play wouldn't be as likely. What I meant was in a backgammon world dominated by older players (esp. in the US) I have young eyes and a good memory where needed. My opponents would be a lot more likely to make an illegal play that hurt them than I would. I know this from experience and a large part of the time they simply misread the dice.
