I fault his caddie in a big way. Isn't it part of his job to say "Hey, Dustin, remember rule number 1 they told us about in the player's meeting about bunkers outside the ropes?"

But I can see easily how this mistake could be made. Most of the sand in that 'bunker' was covered with torn out, dead grass, making it look like a bunged-up walked over area, not a bunker.

I think they said another player 6 years ago at this course took a 4-shot penalty in the same way by taking relief from what he thought was a cart path and then grounding his club as well.
