I would try keeping the three rearmost checkers where they are, and also keep a four-point board. Then we have a choice between 7/2(2) 6/1(2) and 8/3 7/2 6/1(2). I'm not sure which I prefer but probably 8/3 7/2 6/1(2) because it creates a root number of 33 and I think it gives more shots if White stands still with something like 66.
