That small variations on positions, score and location of checkers can dramatically change what the correct play is?

Its like saying this lemon is almost the same as that orange, except that it has a slightly different shape and color, so why does it taste different?

I would guess that the spare adjustment will impact plays, along with the scores, as the -1a player does care about gammon and backgammon losses, not so in DMP.
