I don't use CA, but from its description I gather that if you have the full CA security suite your other spyware software is redundant. I would remove all programs I didn't want on my PC. For other programs, I would check to see which programs are running at startup (which may be causing a conflict), and disable any that I don't want to run at startup.

I would use Control Panel's Add or Remove Programs (or a 3rd party utility like CCleaner from piriform.com) to remove all programs I don't want on my PC. If CA has told you that Add/Remove might not remove 100% of the removed programs, that's true. There may still be some directories and files and registry entries that the program created that the uninstall did not remove. But that doesn't mean that what's left of the removed programs is still causing a problem.

I would use msconfig (click Start, click Run, type msconfig, click OK, click Startup tab) to see what programs are trying to run at startup. At that same panel you can deselect programs to prevent them from running at startup. I'm not saying this is the best way to do this, or that you should disable any of the listed programs. That's up to you. For programs that you do want on your PC, you should try to use their own preference setting procedures to tell them whether or not to run at startup. If you want to know what any listed startup programs actually do, try using the search tool at
