Actually, I did not roll 1-1 three times in a row. Leading 2-away, 7-away I did roll my 35-1 worst twice in a short stretch of rolls, each time it being my only bad number, which turned my closed board with three of my opponents men on the bar into a 4 point board with my 5 and 6 points open. But, alas, in the end I reached the following position:

is Player 2

score: 2
pip: 180
9 point match
pip: 43
score: 7

is Player 1

on roll, cube action?

eXtreme Gammon Version: 1.20

My opponent then rolled a 6-5, entering both men and making the 19 point which brings us to me needing to roll 1-1 and then be hit to not win the match immediately. Not only did I manage to roll the 1-1 and get hit. A few shakes later I was primed and cubed out. I went on to lose a salty game at 2-away, 6 -away when, with me having a huge race lead, my opponent miscalculated that he had a take because he forgot that if he won the game he only wins the match half the time. Needless to say, he rolled a few sets and won. Then, at DMP, as a medium favorite, I lost on time-the only time that has ever happened to me.

This would have been bad enough, but two tournaments later in Michigan, I was at DMP against Pat Gibson with one man on my 6 point and him owning the 20. Anything but 1-1, followed by a one and I win. If he hits he is maybe 65% to win. Again I roll 1-1 and get hit and lost the match! :-)
