My offer to take 3 was a joke...it's a common joke that is made all the time. One never expects someone to accept such a joke, and when he did, and then realized he had made a mistake, Taki did the gentlemanly thing and did not accept the settlement. The other player, however, being relatively new to the game, a hot-headed Russian, and someone who is a major league fish in the game, cried that he had lost many points being held to agreements and comments that he had made in the past, and he was "technically" correct to take the settlement.

I know you would like to be able to point out that by my offering to take 3 I was demonstrating poor sportsmanship, but anyone there, including Matt, surely knew I was kidding, and if Matt had agreed to pay me 3 I, like Taki, would not have taken it.

I do find it interesting that when you tell a humorous story, there are people who try to find a way to belittle and find fault with someone. I consider that to be bad sportsmanship.
