A careful reader might note that Paul never claimed to have lost 9000 pounds. Yes, he speculated that the debt could have been paid with 300 copies of his book, but it's unlikely that a bulk purchaser would pay 30 pounds per copy, if such is the retail price (unless the purchase is for hoarding purposes). And of course to say that the amount lost, if not equal to 9000 pounds was either more or less than that, provides no additional information.
