In Response To: Backgammon analogy? (Chuck Bower)

This isn't quite a perfect analogy. It's conceivable that some players specifically entered the tournament because of the fast pace of play and may have trained to perform well under those conditions. These players would be at a disadvantage (or less of an advantage) if the rules are relaxed.

But it does bring up a more fundamental question. When does the good of the many take precidence over the rights of a few? That's what the director has to decide.
