Small Board in Florida. Comments?

If the smaller "postage stamp sized board" from Brazil measured 16" x 24" open (40.6cms x 61cms), it was larger than the £1000 37cms x 51cms David Naylor board auctioned here: http://www.backgammoninlondon.com/naylor/001.html.
Very nice boards, both of them. But neither board meets the WBF and DBgF requirement: minimum open dimensions 44cms x 55cms and maximum 66cms x 88cms. I don't agree that larger is always better. A handful of players bang around with super-large boards that I find tiring to play on. On the other hand, ABT rules say nothing about board size. Perhaps they should. But the bottom line in Florida seems to be: the two players wanted to use their own boards, the director had them roll for it, which they did without objection. Finito.
