HoF imo is allowed to have members recognized not solely for the strength of their game.

Agree. We may also want to discuss if we want to have a temporally tiered system: i.e. limiting the new members to a certain number per year. I believe baseball had a large class the first year and then smaller limits after that. NASCAR (recent entry into HoF world) allows only five per year, with no special consideration for the first year. IMO, this is too restrictive. I'm not sure how the World Golf HoF does theirs, but I suspect we can find out (Wikipedia?).

Of course here I'm being presumptuous that those in charge of this actually want outside input....
