im reminded of a story i heard once regarding an incident that occurred in a chess tournament. the players A and B are fighting it out, A gets to the point where he is a certain winner, B evaluates his situation agrees its hopeless for him and says something to the effect of "looks like you won this one, congrats, lets go have dinner, my treat." A agrees and they both leave, B then says he forgot his coat, comes back into the tourney room, makes him move, hits his clock and re-joins A for dinner. when they come back A has then lost on time.
