Couple interesting 4th down calls in last night's game.

Notre Dame facing 4th and 1 at their own 42, tie game with 6 minutes and change left. The call is a pass play and it fails. Announcers go apoplectic. "No big deal," I think to myself, "it's almost always right to go for it on 4th and 1."

Next possession, Notre Dame again faces a 4th and 1 at their own 42, with 4 minutes left on the clock. This time they punt! I confess I don't understand...
