In Response To: OK, Chuck, How Big a Clone is Kubiak? (Bill Riles)

Situation: OT with 10:42 on the clock. 4th and 4 from the opponent's 34. (FG is usually yardline + 8 + 10, so 52 yarder.) Average NFL kicker makes that about 50% of attempts. (Note that attempts are likely biased toward good weather conditions since risk-averse coaches don't attempt under marginal/bad conditions, so data is skewed.)

Where will the punt end up? If 20 (as actually happened, although this is worse than expected) it's approaching a quad whopper in EMG units. Even the 10 yardline result is a double whopper.

If Houston were guaranteed to down the punt on the 1 yardline, it's still about a cointoss.
