2010 Danish Championship format

Havard asks: Players getting four wins before the final round in the qualifications, did they have anything to play for (except rating points) in the final rounds? If not, were there any discussions about playing matches where one player maybe doesn't care much about the outcome?

That's a good question, and was asked and answered in the invitation:

Når man har vundet 4 kampe, hvad er så motivationen for at spille videre?

Det kan svare sig at vinde mange kampe. Spillere, som klarer cuttet til finaledag 2, bliver seeded efter hhv. point/rating.

[Q: When one has won 4 matches, what is the motivation for playing on? A. It can pay to win many matches. Players who make the cut to final day 2 will be seeded by points won and [secondarily] by rating.

A further explanation was given in response to a question in the Danish discussion forums:

3) Dem der vinder flest kampe får først bye på sidste finaledag. Antag at en person vinder 6 kampe i kvalstævnet og derefter 5 på finaledag #1. Så vil han stå forest i køen til byes hvis der er nogle (man kender ikke antallet af spillere på sidste finaledag på forhånd).

[Those who win the most matches get the first bye(s) on the last final day. Assume that someone wins 6 matches in the qualifying tournament and thereafter 5 on final day 1. As a result, he will stand first in line for byes if there are any (the number of players on the last day cannot be known beforehand)]

Additionally, there was this note appended to the list of qualifiers to final day 1:

Seedning: Lørdag sorteres på rating, og søndag sorteres på point/rating.

Which I understand to mean (amplified):

Seeding: On Saturday, the first final day, seeding will be by rating, and on Sunday, the second final day, seeding will be first by the total of points won in the qualifying tournament and on the first final day and secondarily by rating.
