You can use the actual final rollout results to assign likelihoods that player A did best, second best,... Similar assignments can be made for all players. The prize money can then be apportioned accordingly. Trophy is awarded to player with highest expectation of having won.
You would still need some kind of cutoff to limit the number of total payouts (and do some rounding so you dont' have to bring a bag of change). Withough such cutoffs, even I would likely have gotten some few cents at the Chicago Open if my proposal had been in use. :)
Of course executing this would not be trivial, but most of the effort (pre-filling a spreadsheet) could be done ahead of time. Then just fill in the players' answers at snap your fingers.
