Kharkov Open - new tournament format?

Do many agree with me that having to buy a book just to learn the rules of a tournament they are considering playing in discourages participation?

I agree.

I have read all those explanations on the tournament website and after one reading - nothing was clear to me. But, I re-read PDF document and it became somewhat clearer (but I still have some questions and would like Jakob to answer them)

Maybe those rules are much better than current ones, but because of difficulty to explain them to the players - I don't know if this will succeed.


Don't get me wrong, I like to try something new in backgammon and I would like to experiment with playing under these rules, but I feel that majority of players wouldn't.
