Kharkov Open - new tournament format?

CJC had a copy of Garal's book out at a tournament once, and I thumbed through it. I also saw his prototype board that automatically records the match.

One idea is really wicked awesome, and the other idea is the most insane thing I've ever read in backgammon.

This book has a section on advantages and disadvantages of his system, and after scads of perceived advantages, the second part goes like this:

Disadvantages: none.

---

It actually says that, or something almost exactly that.
