I vote for D) as far as doing the calculations go, and am quite sure that you need to allocate more than 1 minute for the first game.

For exact calculations, I'd need information about the frequency distribution of points won/lost at different scores, also depending on the time allocated. Or is in any game at most one point at stake (no cube, no gammons, no backgammons)?

I don't think Bob performed the calculation because he probably worked out the answer at a theoretical level.
