Between approximately equal plays, chose the ones with less 'be blown away' potential. In general, this means plays that keep anchors.
Stick had a few examples not too long ago, where you could hit leaving a bunch of blots, or consolidate keep an anchor. Even if the hit has a somewhat higher equity, you don't want to get return hit and caught with a number of blots, and then face a cube which you do not like to face against this opponent.
On the general issue raised in this thread, just treat each match as stand-alone, but make use of any play biases you observed.
