Owning the cube doesn't mean added cube ownership, it means substracted cube ownership from the opponent. I know that the cube ownership is of somewhat diminished value when playing a holding game with bad racing chances. I would play 11,10 in order to have my opponent play less holding games where he doesn't care much for not having cube access. I could have the concept completely wrong though. For instance there will also be less close races where cube ownership rules.
