I have not read all the posts on this (not have I watched any football this year), so might be duplicating some others' wisdom. From the standpoint of pure logic, it does not make any difference whehter one attempts the 2 pts the first time, or the second time, unless:
a) the right approach is to attempt 2 pts BOTH times, in order to win (rather than tie the game)
b) there might be more than one additional possession, in which case it might not matter (e.g., if a FG can also be scored; or
c) it is psychologically easier to score two points on the second touchdown, where it clearly matters.
