I'd rather give equity differences as opposed to absolute equity. As in BG (checker play vs. cube play), our bot does better with relative comparisons. But to put things in perspective, right after the 1 or 2 point conversion (6:00 remaining) with the assumption of two average teams, trailing by 7, OK has < 15% GWC; trailing by 8 or 9 they have considerably < 10%.
I'll get back to you on the equity differences for the situations you describe, but again (and as Jason already wisely concluded), at least some of the decisions are close and certainly (although apparently not strongly) dependent upon the actual conditions -- i.e. the strengths of the two teams in the various offensive, defensive, and special teams categories.
As for 'psychological considerations', I'll leave that to the liberal arts majors. :)
