(The times where the 2 vs. 1 decision actually matters) is a very rare event, ergo the vig rates to be small. But as in backgammon, a play can be extremely clear even when the equity difference is small.
Agree, and to state the last part slightly differently: you don't always need a computer to figure out what the right play is (at football or backgammon). But it's always more satisfying (to me, anyway) when multiple, independent and trusted methods lead to the same conclusion.
