Hey Flaccus -
Concerning eXtreme Gammon, it is clearly the best overall bot in use today. The speed of both its analysis and especially its rollouts are far superior to any pre-existing bot. What XG also offers are higher levels of play and analysis that isn't available with other bots in the form of the commonly used XGR+ which is actually a truncated rollout that takes less time than Snowie 3 ply.
People I believe even in this thread have claimed XG is 'better' in playing strength and this should be taken with a grain of salt. If you matched up XG 3 ply play and 3 ply cube v. GNU's equivalent (2ply/2ply) the results would be very close. The thing is, for play and rollouts you can use higher levels of analysis and not sacrifice too much time which is impossible with the other bots. If you want you can roll out positions using 4 ply play or cube and have significant results still before a Snowie live cube 3 ply/3 ply rollout.
I encourage you to post positions on this site as interesting problems or in your posts like this one. When you do so there's an easy way to post the actual position using XG instead of linking us to another site. When you have the position up in XG you go to File >> Export >> Position to Clipboard.
Now a little box will come up and from the drop down menu you select Copy as: HTML (using images). The rest is pretty self explanatory. If you want to show the analysis of the position you leave the Show Analyze button checked. If you don't because you want people to give their input before showing what the computer things, you simply uncheck it. Hit Copy to Clipboard and then come back here to the forums and paste (ctrl + v) inside the message box. This will put the code needed to show the position in the message field. You can see what your message will look like before posting by using the Preview Message button. The following link is the same explanation including pictures.
Post any other questions you have. You'll find a lot of free help here and most people aside from the prick that runs that site are especially helpful. In the future try to keep the Subject line for your posts shorter. It's kind of annoying for everyone to have it so long.
