Chiva, Who said 5 minutes a point? Not me.

15s, 3min is the slowest I've found in singles play. That's slow enough! Maybe too slow for some events.

Some of the stress experienced for some new clock players can be related to the allowances - not simply the clock itself and the different setup. Obviously, some new clock players will find they have to speed up! So, if they AGREE to use a clock when they didn't have to - why not break them in gently? This extra allowance doesn't have to be much more than the obligatory clock allowance that may occur in later rounds, and not every time they opt to use a clock; maybe just the first or second time. The director would clearly use his discretion.
