Tami and Anna, from your posts I get the impression that stereotype jokes generally don't flourish well in the American (well, at least if not planted by evil fascists) and Polish culture, respectively. Remarkable if true. Is it?
For post-Nazi Germany, I will confess that we have stereotype jokes about Catholics, Blondes, men, women, the Austrians, the French, the Dutch, the Americans... you name it. The pattern seems to be that preferred targets are neighbors, large minorities and super-powers. Seen in this light, I would indeed have been surprised if Polish jokes really had originated in the US.
As far as I am aware of, the stereotype Polish moron does not exist anymore in Germany (due to thorough denazification?). Instead, we have moronic Blondes, East Frisians and Austrians, while the Polish are portrayed as cunning thieves (sad, but true).
