It's certainly not a next for me, but I'll give it a shot.

Blue is outboarded, so engaging in a hitting contest is not the best idea. But he's also well behind in the race, so that points to more active play. If we're going to hit then hitting on the 7 must be better than hitting on the 17 - fewer return shots, another builder aimed at the inner board, and the 7 is worth slotting unlike the 17.

But I'm going to eschew the hit and just enter on the 22. The checker is not utg, and if we can run it to the 18 or the midpoint we have a pretty viable holding game. With white's better board I don't want to start exchanging hits, especially leading 6 points in the match.

I have little confidence that this is correct.
