I agree with Neil, Jason and others, that this forum would be greatly improved if political (and religious) discussions were expunged, omitted or taken elsewhere. I feel the same about any subject posted here that is not at least tangentially related to backgammon. When in doubt, leave it out.

(By the way, I admire people who are willing to let a matter drop despite the other guy getting in the "last word." In my eyes, such restraint enhances rather than diminishes a poster's point of view.)

I will sometimes respond (e.g., as I did recently with Scrabble questions), but I seldom if ever initiate a thread or post that is not directly related to backgammon. I do not wish for others to feel unduly censored, but it often seems like I'm walking on a heavily littered beach. At some point, I might get fed up and stop spending time there (as I did once with a Scrabble forum long ago for which I used to be a regular contributor), for anyone who might care.

I regard the option to ignore posts as a grossly inadequate "solution." It requires extra work to scroll through all the headers and find the ones in which I'm interested, or to which I would respond if only they didn't get lost in the shuffle. (I also have to wonder if I've wasted time working on a post that others might similarly overlook.)

While on the topic, I'll also mention that I vastly prefer short headers to long ones.

Allow me to express my appreciation and gratitude to those who are selective with their posts and posting content. It does not go unnoticed.

Nack
