Whatever your own interests might be, you need to weigh them against the fact that many strong players will be driven away by what they consider "noise." Maybe they're wrong to think that it's noise; maybe they're exaggerating how difficult it is to filter out the noise. But would you rather insist that they're wrong and lose them, or keep them around by reducing the non-backgammon traffic? I can't resist an analogy: anyone who's married ought to understand how costly it can sometimes be to win an argument.
