Ruling Question

This is just another good example (and there are many more) as to why legal moves should be the rule, and if the rules don't change, in the mean time, make your private agreement to play legal moves.
Now, occasionally I sit down at the table and my opponent, for example, Taki, says no, he wants to apply the rules as stated. And I tell him I think that's a mistake but he's entitled to be that way, and if he bore off one of my checkers, I would tell him how sorry that happened, and that I warned him that these are bad rules, and I would accept no gammon. The idea that I have only 14 checkers is not true, in my opinion, as that could hurt me in other ways. The fact is, one of my checkers was borne off. I would feel no guilt about applying an unfair rule that I asked my opponent, in advance, not to apply.
