Very interesting, thank you. 718 paying backgammon federation members for 5 million inhabitants sounds good to me. I'd be over the moon if we could achieve that. I doubt many federations do better. Can someone contribute statistics?
In Croatia (with 4,5 million inhabitants) this was the first year of organized backgammon under our newly formed federation. We had 7 tournaments across the country.
From my statistics:
In total 108 players participated, but only 47 players from Croatia. Of those 47, 22 participated in just one tournament, leaving 25 Croatian players that played in more than one tournament of those seven.So we dream of having such low "popularity of backgammon in Denmark. Right now there are only 718 paying members of DBGF" :)
